Social Media Guidelines

Social Media Policy

The below policy was created to establish the Wisconsin Athletics brand strategy across all official Badger social media accounts.

Objectives

At Wisconsin Athletics, the social media accounts should reflect the following objectives:

  • Create a cohesive brand experience across all social handles
  • Ensure posts are supportive of three key initiatives: brand affinity, sport-specific support, and revenue generation
  • Set basic social guidelines to ensure monitoring and reinforcing social strategy
By creating an overarching brand strategy, the creative shall reflect and support the above objective. The branding guidelines are to be a framework for making visual decisions on social media, but does not cover the entire bandwidth of possible social media needs. Account Logins

All login credentials should be annually reviewed by account to ensure that all participating parties are employed by Wisconsin Athletics. Login credentials should not be emailed outside of the proper internal parties and updated accordingly.

Profile Branding

All Wisconsin Badger social accounts have a specially created profile branding, including headers, social icons, and profile pictures. To have one created for your team, please contact branding@athletics.wisc.edu.

Additionally, all creative distributed through social accounts are to be Wisconsin branded first. This includes but is not limited to, professional league content, Olympic, and post-season or NCAA awards.
